The Joy of Life
Rootsamala emerges in another century… specifically in the twentieth. At the end of the 90s and after changing names a few times (Ital Roots, Amala Family Band) and musicians, Rootsamala is born.
Even though they have changed and mingled with quite a few different musicians throughout the years, two of its members remain loyal and these are the founders and siblings Angelo and Raquel.
Although not an official member of Rootsamala but defiantly worth mentioning in Rootsamalas’ history is Inyaki Yarritu from BDF, loyal friend and amazing musician and producer. Inyaki has produced almost all of Rootsamalas’ published music and helped along the way.
These siblings arrived in Spain from the UK in the early 90s, from where they grew up in very close contact with the Reggae scene. Highly influenced in 80s UK Roots and Reggae.
roots
They have taken part in big national and international festivals, alongside acknowledged reggae artists, as a group and also as backing vocals.
With over 20 vinyl singles from labels such as Heartical, One in the Spirit, Sama Roots and New Exodus amongst others.
